French school, Victor-Emile Cartier (1811-1866): Cattle at a drinking place, oil on canvas

470

Dimensions:

Work: 92 x 73 cm

Frame: 112 x 92 cm

The work signed 'Cartier' and the signature hidden behind the frame. More than likely this is a work by the French painter Victor-Emile Cartier (1811-1866). The same theme  (cattle in a landscape) is always reflected in his oeuvre. For example, a comparison can be made with a work sold at Bonhams, New York, 26 Januari 2007, lot 94 (link).
