Dutch school, Johannes Mijtens (1614-1670) and/or entourage: Portrait of a young man as a hunter, oil on canvas, 17th C.

481

Work: 95,5 x 68 cm

Frame: 113 x 85,9 cm

The portrayal of the young man fits perfectly into Mijttens' oeuvre, which consistently reproduced ladies and gentlemen of good origin in this way, as for example can be seen in the portrait of Wolphart van Brederode (link). Also the theme of the hunt was not strange to Mijttens and his surroundings (compare for example with a portrait of most probably Mary of Nassau, link).

The reverse with an old auction label.

Provenance: Private collection, Belgium, Ghent.
