P.L. Mastraeten (?): Presumed view of the ponds of Ixelles, oil on panel, first half of the 19th C.

1568

Work: 39,1 x 34,8 cm

Frame: 52,4 x 48,3 cm

The painter is probably the art dealer P.L. Mastraeten, who sold part of the collection of the Museum in Brussels in 1830 at the request of Odevaere, Navez and Van Assche (De Koninklijke Musea voor Schone Kunsten van België, Lannoo, 2003, I, p. 95). The initials more than likely do not refer to a Pierre Joseph Corneille Mastraeten, 'artiste peintre' in Leuven (1820-1843) (link).
