The Leeds firm of Wilcox & Co, producers of Burmantofts Faience Art Pottery and Architectural Ceramics, amalgamated with five firms in 1889 to become the Leeds Fireclay Company Ltd (LEFCO) becoming the largest clay working company in the country. 'LEFCO Ware' was introduced in 1912 and was a variation of their Marmo Faience used for architectural wares and facings.
