- Ex-collection of Sidney Rothberg, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. The philanthropist Sidney Rothberg (1924-2008) was a passionate fine art collector, acquiring a diverse and expansive collection. Aside from blue-chip artists such as Renoir, Soutine or Diebenkorn, Mr. Rothberg also championed emerging talents at the time, specifically women artists. He bought a number of their works at a time when such names were not as actively sought after as they are today on the art market. Among them are Louise Nevelson, Louise Bourgeois, Alice Baber, Dorothea Tanning, Alice Helicka (link).
