The painting bears the signature of Jacques d'Arthois (1613-1686) and a date. The work is also very much in line with, for example, the oeuvre of François Coppens (ca. 1650). An attribution to Lodewyck De Vadder (1605-1655) can also be defended. An attribution to Ignatius Van der Stock (1636-1668) seems also plausible.
