Adriaan Van Heucke was docent at the Ghent Sint-Lucas Instituut (Saint Luke Institute) inspiring a whole generation of artists, such as Hugo De Putter (1938-1990) and Bernard Sercu (1953). The work is his own interpretation of the Arnolfini wedding portrait by Jan Van Eyck (ca. 1390-1441). (link)
