Constant Permeke (1886-1952): Vie villageoise, huile sur toile

515

Work: 80,5 x 56 cm

Frame: 110 x 85 cm

The reverse with an old 'Van Geluwe, Brussels, n° 12' label, most probably referring to Gustave Van Geluwe, tailor in the Tervurenlaan and close friends with artists such as Constant Permeke and James Ensor, who often paid with paintings. For example, the KMSKB (the Royal Museum of Fine Arts, Brussels) bought in 1963 another Permeke painting from the heirs of  Van Geluwe (link).

- The painting without doubt in good and hangable condition.

- Some minor damage to the borders due to the framing.

- The left side of the painting with negligible and nearly visible damage (about 2mm, left of the hip of the woman ).
