The Congolese painter Thango is considered one of the pioneers of painting in Central Africa. He exhibited at the World's Fair in Brussels in 1958 as a representative of the Poto-Poto school and received the UNICEF Prize in 1961. His works are often inspired by his stays in the forest, where he came into contact with visions, stories, and questions.
