Both plates with crest and motto 'Spero Meliora' ('I hope for better things' or 'Aspire to greater things').

 

Ref.:

- A tureen and cover with the same crest and motto offered at Christie's, New York, Sale: Living with Art, August 22 &23, 2017, lot 218 (USD 875, link).

 

Condition: (UV-checked)

- One of the plates with a hairline of ca. 2 cm at 9 o'clock. 

- The other plate with a negligible superficial hardly visible chip to the bottom rim.

- Furthermore, both plates in very good condition, with the normal superficial wear, especially to the gilt decoration.
