Mirou is a Flemish-German Antwerp born painter. He made a career in both Antwerp and Frankenthal, the city to which the Mirou family moved in 1586 after the so-called 'Fall of Antwerp' (Val van Antwerpen). For a long time it was thought that Mirou died in 1661, relating to an erroneous restoration of the date on a painting in Galleria Nazionale in Parma. However, most likely he died in the twenties of the 17th C. (link)
