Noël Hostens, researcher 'De Coene furniture design Kortrijk 1900-1975', attributes this ensemble to Joseph De Bruycker, in his early art deco/modernist style (e-mail dated 14 July 2025). De Bruycker was in the 1920s not only an architect but he also designed furniture. In 1925, he became director of the furniture factory N.V. Het Binnenhuis and collaborated with various artists, such as Huib Hoste and Victor Servranckx, who transformed their working styles. He encountered modern Dutch architecture, including that of Willem Dudok.
