A French Empire gilt bronze and vert de mer marble mantel clock crowned with 'L'étude de l'astronomie' after Jean-André Reiche (1752-1817), 19th C.

The original design by Reiche is preserved in the Cabinet des Estampes in Paris: modelled as Urania, the muse of astronomy, studying a celestial globe surrounded by attributes representing the sciences.

The dial marked 'Hunziker à Paris'.
The work inscribed with the numbers '5' and '55'.
