- In good overall condition and ready to hang.
- Minor flaking.
- The canvas is glued on panel and nailed along the edges.
- The upper edge is damaged, with flaking and areas of weakness.
- The canvas has been restored, but UV light reveals very little restoration, most likely due to an anti-UV varnish.
- The lower section shows that the canvas was probably folded and has been more extensively restored in this area.
- Under good lighting, the work reveals some very fine details in the execution of the details, such as the embroidery on the clothing.

The reverse with various labels, one stating the presumed identity of the person, the other attributing the work to an artist named Jean de Troy (1638-1691).
