The painting is a copy after a work attributed to Artus Wolffort (1581-1641). The original can be seen in the Groeningemuseum, Bruges (Belgium), catalogue number 0.374 (link). Numerous copies are known, for example one in the Museum of Fine Arts, Ghent (Belgium), inv. number S 65 (link). Another version has been sold at Christie's, New York, 29th January 1999, lot 145 (link). These copies are all clearly linked with the atelier of Wolffort.
