The telescope was given as a gift on the occasion of a special event: "Presenté à Messieurs les Volontaires Belges à l'occasion de leur visite au Camp de Wimbledon au mois de Juillet 1866. Par J.H. Steward. Opticien de l'Assocation du Tir National de l'Angleterre. Gagné par ...".
