Work: 39 x 30 cm

Frame: 54 x 44,5 cm

The work is very close to the oeuvre of the Antwerp painter Jan van Balen (1611-1654). Jan was the son of Hendrik van Balen I and Margriet Briers and the brother-in-law of Theodoor van Thulden. He first was active in Antwerp. In 1639, he went to Rome with his brother Jaspar, but he returned to Antwerp in 1641 after his brother's death. (link)
