Modelled standing in classical contrapost aside a tree trunk, adjusting her chiton. The figure represents the goddess Artemis, traditionally attributed to the sculptor Praxiteles. The original white marble statue, discovered in 1792 by Gavin Hamilton, became part of the Borghese collection and is nowadays part of the Paris Louvre collection (inventory number Ma 529).

The sculpture marked 'Réduction Sauvage'. With a dedication.
