The woodcut monogrammed in the plate and signed in pencil outside the plate. Jozef Cantré formed with his brother Jan-Frans and with Frans Masereel, Henri Van Straeten and Joris Minne the 'Vijf' (Five). They are best known for their renewed interest in Flemish wood engraving after the First World War.
