Karel Van Lerberghe was trained at the Academies of Bruges and Ghent and he is best known for his 'poetic' landscapes. Initially, he found his inspiration in the West Flemish landscape with its gently undulating plains and the endless sky above. He was often captivated by the landscape beneath the snow.
